Humans are easily attached. They try to hold on to life because they fear to die. But learning to live isn’t about grasping on to things. Do you appreciate that there is a difference between love and attachment?Various people are interested in practising Yoga and Meditation, but they say it is not easy to practice non-attachment with body and mind. They want to have peace but, it seems like very difficult for them to be peaceful.
Non-attachment is allowed us to live world fully, without being attached to the people, things or thoughts that create suffering.
We take one example:
Observe the trees which allow the birds to land and fly away without either inviting them to stay or desiring them never to leave. If your mind can be like this, you will be near to the way.
What is Non-Attachment?
It’s about learning how to let go of the judgments and emotions that create suffering. Non-attachment is about acknowledgement, perspective, flexibility, an understanding that we cannot control things. Once we start to stop being so attached to our opinions, we experience great relief, inner peace, and a pervading feeling of joyful well-being.
Beyond Human Nature
It’s by non-attachment or moving past our human nature that we become enlightened. And that is the goal of yoga. Samadhi, or enlightenment, is yoga’s eighth limb. Through our dedicated yoga practice, we can gradually move toward this state of non-attachment and bliss.
